Once you've downloaded the Layer Excel add-in, you can start by syncing your local Excel files with Layer. This is done by either syncing your Excel files with existing files or by saving them as new spreadsheets on Layer.

Sync with an existing file

To upload your Excel file as the latest version of an existing file on Layer:

  1. Press the Layer Excel add-in button in the upper right corner of the ribbon to open it.

  2. Select the Layer file from your list of spreadsheets. If you don't have any spreadsheets on Layer, you will only have the option to save the spreadsheet as a new file.

  3. A prompt message will ask you to confirm that your file will be added as the latest version of the spreadsheet. Press "Yes, Save To Layer".

  4. Your Excel file will be uploaded as the latest version of that spreadsheet.

Save as a new file

To save your Excel file as a new file on Layer:

  1. Press the Layer Excel add-in button in the upper right corner of the ribbon to open it.

  2. Press the "Save New File" button.

  3. The add-in will upload your local Excel file to Layer.

  4. A message will show that your file is in sync with Layer.
