You can only make structural changes to your master file by adding or removing rows and columns. You shouldn't make structural changes to connected sheets as it will cause issues with your connections and possibly your master file.

Can I make structural edits to connected sheets?

No, you should only edit the master file. Adding or removing rows or columns to your connected sheets (spreadsheets created by Layer) will break your connection.

Changes submitted through broken connections can't be accepted; if they are, they might break cell references in your master file.

Can I sync structural edits with my connected sheets?

Currently, values and formulas will be synced. However, formatting in the connected spreadsheet will appear broken.

We are currently working on a "Force Update" feature that allows you to fully synchronize any new structural edits to your master file with the connected spreadsheets.
